Waka ama is the New Zealand term for the sport of outrigger canoeing. The name distinguishes an outrigger canoe from other types of waka (canoes).
About Us
Red Beach Outrigger Canoe Club is a young up and coming Waka Ama club that was established in 2018 to lead the development and practice of Waka Ama, With a key focus to promote kaupapa waka as a positive activity to support cultural and physical wellbeing within the community.
Waka Ama has proven to be a growing team sport across New Zealand, The sport presents a rich history where identity, tradition and community is at its core and as a result, for many, Waka Ama is not just a sport but also a lifestyle.
Red Beach Outrigger Canoe Club was established in 2018 and is situated in Red Beach Whangaparoa, Auckland New Zealand.
